Evie and Leo met in foster care as children and formed a bond of friendship. As they grew, their bond turned to love, and they vowed to make a life together when they turned 18 and were no longer a part of the system.
When Leo unexpectedly gets adopted as a teen and he moves to another city, he promises Evie that he will contact her as soon as he gets there and come back for her in a few short years. She never hears from him again.
Now eight years later, in spite of the odds, Evie has made a life for herself. She has a job. She has friends. She’s content. Then a man shows up out of the blue, claiming that her long lost love, Leo, sent him to check up on her. The attraction between them is undeniable. But, should she trust this sexy stranger? Or is he keeping a secret about what his connection to Leo is really all about and why Leo disappeared all those years ago?
New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
This book is an amazing story about the kinds who aren’t so lucky to have loving parents and they were considerate a cliché. The life was rough with them and their dreams were always ruined. Not everyone in this world is happy and the people who are really happy are a few. And when you lose the only human you love, everything is a calvary. That’s what is happening with Evie and Leo.
They loved each other and they were like ‘you and I against the world’. Even they were only 10 respectively 11, they loved each other from the first second, even if they didn’t realize that. But then they got separated and everything changed. Leo promised Evie that he would come for her when she turns eighteen, but he never shown up.
“I’m going to kiss you now, Evie, and when I do, it’s going to mean that you’re mine. I don’t care how far away from each other we are. You. Are. Mine. I’ll wait for you. And I want you to wait for me. Promise me you won’t let anyone else touch you. Promise me you’ll save yourself for me.”
Now Evie is twenty two and she is a maid, but she bought an apartment and even she isn’t rich, she is pleased for what she has done until now. She was working hard and she didn’t give up, but she still remembers Leo and those thoughts are hurting her. I liked Evie’s character because she was strong and she was merciful. She cared about everything and everyone, she apologized to a dog! She fought hard with her life and it wasn’t easy at all to know that the only person you’ve ever loved left you and broke his promise. But she wasn’t a kid anymore and she learned many things from her horrible life. But in one day she met Jake, the hot-looking Jake who stole her breath and made her panties wet. And she fell hard for him. He made her feeling complete, he filled the emptiness from her heart and she just can’t stand him. The attraction is too big.
Jake is the player guy and he is the bad-boy type, but when he met Evie, it’s like the world disappeared and there were just them and nobody else. He was rich, he had his father’s company and he was a hottie. How could you stand that? But Evie didn’t look for his money or his company, she saw the man in him. She really saw Jake and didn’t take too long until they belonged to each other.
But Jake has also his demons and he is every time so mysterious. Evie had always a déjà-vu sensation with him, but she ignored her feelings. Jake is more enigmatical than he seems and you’d be surprised if you found out his secrets.
When they met, Jake was actually stalking her because Leo told him so and Leo died in a car accident. Evie is hurt because she loved Leo, but life is going on, so she got over it. But with Jake Madsen is another story. And here is the thing I didn’t like. When they’ve seen each other, they almost jumped one on another and then after just only a week, they started to have sex. It’s a little too fast because the story is different and Evie had a thing with Leo and she trusted too much Jake. But the scenes between them were HOT. EXTREMELY HOT! And there is no way for Jake to be forgotten. And there are a lot of hot scenes, Sometimes the book is just about sex, but then comes the other story and it’s like a roller-coaster.
“He rips his mouth from mine as he growls, „Mine. Only mine. Only. Ever. Mine,” still slamming into me, pounding me against the wall.”
“Evie to Jake “Oh my God,” she breathes “Your boy part is like the Incredible Hulk.” Jake raises an eyebrow and asks “Boy part?” Evie nods and asks “Is he angry?” Jake answers “Not yet. But if you keep referring to him as a ‘boy part,’ he could get there. He’s all man. You don’t want to see him get angry.” Evie responds “Oh, I definitely want to see him get angry.”
I’ll talk a little bit about Jake’s mother, Lauren, who is a bitch, a selfish bitch who only loves herself. How could she do something like that? For God sake, he was only a 15 year old kid. She didn’t have brain at all in that stupid head? The boy was traumatized and she kept what she was doing. Those people are people with no character! She is a pedophile! She should spend her life in jail and to never get out from there. It’s horrible what she has done!
Evie’s friends, Nicole and Landon, were always on her side and supported her and listened to her when she was broken. I liked Landon because he is so funny and he is totally lovable J
‘’Have I told you lately that I love you?
He grins at me, ‘’I don’t blame you. I’m very lovable.’’
This book is about a love which grew bigger and bigger and the love between kids isn’t the same with the love between the teenagers which isn’t the same with the love between mature people. Love changes but it still burn. And when Evie received Leo’s letters, she understood that too because his love for her is bigger with every year and every month and every day.
‘’To my Evie, the one who knew how to love me before I knew how to love myself,’’
After all, ‘’All the world’s a circus.’’
The end was amazing and I enjoyed this book, but I can’t give it 5 stars because sometimes the book is just about sex and I think they hurried the things a little. But the story is amazing and this book is a MUST READ for everyone. It’s a life lesson and you should read it. The characters are changing very much and they are evolving. I don’t want to say more because I don’t want to give you spoilers.
