Review: „Speak of the Devil” by Shawna Romkey

I just finished this book and I love it ❤ I’ll let you the description and the cover (which is cool):

What happens when falling in love and falling from grace collide?

After dying in a car accident with her two best friends, Lily miraculously awakens to grief and guilt. She escapes to her dad’s to come to terms with the event and meets some people at her new school who seem all too eager to help her heal. Sliding deeper into sorrow and trying to fight her feelings for two of them, she finds out who…what they really are and that they are falling too.

Can she find the strength to move on from the past, reconcile her feelings for Luc, find a way to stop a divine war with fallen angels, and still pass the eleventh grade?

Thank you so much Shawna for giving me the opportunity ro read your book. It was great!

I wanted to read this book because of the cover, but it was more beautiful than I expected. I read this book today and I’m glad I done so. This book is about Lily, a girl who lost her friends in a car accident. She’s the only one who survived, but, actually, she died in that accident too.

After her friend’s funeral, she moved with her father and she stayed there with her stepmother, her stepbrother and her half-sister. She tought here she will forget her friends and she will start a new life. She was suffering a trauma after her friends died and she blames herself for what happened. But (always must be a ‘but’) she has never expected to be in a school full of angels.

In her first day, she met a boy and she fell in love with him from the first time she saw him, only she didn’t want to recognize it. After that, she met the theater’s goup and then she was feeling like being part of something. She met Mo, Belle, Violet and Luc, the boy who stole her heart. Something was so weird with those kids, but Lily didn’t know what, until she foud out they were guardian angels and a war was coming.

After her friends died, Lily stopped to believe in God and she was so distroyed that she even wanted to kill herself. She was against the drugs and alcohol, but she even wanted to try those things. And here I’m not agreeing. You should never want to kill yourself, you should never stop believing in God and you should never take drugs and drink alcohol. Your life matters, Gods is on your side, even He put you on try. Don’t distroy your life with drugs and alcohol because it’s not worth it.

The events were so unexpected and the characters too. Mo and Violet changed so much and I didn’t recognized them. Mo was in love with Lily and he fell for her because Luc was her guardian angel. And Mo was really changed in bad in the end. Violed was a pain in the ass and I was surprised when she helped Lily.

The ending was unexpected and Lily foud out she had 2 guardian angels, Mike, her friend who died in the accident, was her first guardian angel and he saved her from the accident. And Luc was her second guardian angel and he also was her boyfriend.

In the beginning was a little too much description and that was a little boring, but after the story became more and more interesting. I hope it will be a second book because I want to know who put the bomb in the school. And that would be cool if in the school weren’t students. 🙂

Thank you again Shawna for the book! Rating: 4/5 stars.
